Welcome to Two Hands, One Drink, a video series where I share my methods for making cocktails, all while doing my best to entertain and educate you in the process. Teaching people about food and drink isn't new to me, as that's what I do for a living. But during the COVID19 pandemic, things took a change, and I needed to learn new ways to teach people about cooking. I took up teaching virtual classes from my home, and in my spare time, I took it upon myself to learn all I could about a passion of mine for years: mixology. I started sharing what I was learning with my friends via the Marco Polo app. Well, since I was usually filming alone at night, I filmed with my phone at my chest, and I reached around it to show them how I built the drinks. They loved the combination of cocktails and jokes I was sharing, and long story short, this is how the show was born!

The philosophy of the show is simple. Cocktail making tips, tricks, history, and techniques: Presented with humor and no pretentiousness. It's really that simple. You won't find any waxed mustaches or butcher's aprons on this mixology series, and I think that may make mine a first! I don't tell you the brands and bottles you need to get, just the hows and whys of cocktail making that you can take with you, one drink at a time. So take a moment to watch a video or two. I have them all in the episode slider below. If you like what you see, watch some more! And be sure to go to my YouTube channel and subscribe!

As the series grows, I'll put videos together into series here, like all the videos that lead up to making the perfect Martini or Margarita. That way, all the relevant videos on a specific cocktail can be foind in one easy-to-watch series. So keep coming back for that!
Get in Touch!
I'd love to know what you think, and yes, I take requests! You can always drop me a line just to say hi! No matter what, I'd love to hear from you!
I may be new, but there are some questions that people have. I'll add to this we go. Drop me a line, and maybe you'll see your question here someday!
Why don't you use bottles/measure on screen?
This was a decision I came to early on when making the show. Measuring into jiggers in this format is hard to watch, as the bottle (and my arms) comes right into the screen. I'm assuming you know how to pour from a bottle into a jigger, and then into a stirring glass or shaker. So for the sake of a smooth video experience, I measure everything ahead of time.
Why don't you show what brands you're using?
Because nobody's paying me to! :) Seriously though, this is all part of my "no pretentiousness" and "everyone can do this" approach. Mixologists like to go through bottle after bottle of spirits and mixers to find that one exact mix that they think is best, and believe me, I do that too on my own time/dime. I have my preferred brands for specific cocktails. But once I start showing you what brands I use/like, the conversation instantly becomes one of two things:
1. You like THAT brand?! You're an idiot! Only real lovers of (insert spirit) use this brand.... 2. I don't have that brand! Can I still make a good cocktail? Do I need to go out and buy that now? I can't afford that! What do I do? Should I just give up?
Nether of these scenarios is conducive to making a good show about cocktails in my opinion. It's not important that you use a specific brand of London Dry Gin in a Martini, so long as it's something you like! I want to give you the category of the spirit or mixer to use, and then you can experiment to find the brands you like best. This is what a good teacher does! I give you the framework of what you need to know, and let you discover the rest on your own journey! (Just be sure to take notes as you go, because sometimes remembering what you did the night before can be a foggy puzzle...)
Do you really do all of your shows in one take?
Yes. It's not easy, and I try to make sure I keep it interesting, but I want to show you the continuity of making a drink all the way, so I try to do it all in one take. I also keep all my videos UNDER 8 minutes, because this means YouTube won't stick an extra ad block in the middle of it. That's right, I'm sacrificing potential ad revenue for the sake of giving you a better viewing experience. See if you get that from any other mixology show!
Are you using real alcohol/ingredients in your cocktails? While I could save some money by just using water in place of clear spirits like gin or vodka, (or iced tea for brown liquors) I assure you that all the ingredients you see on the shows are 100% real, and those are real drinks I'm making and tasting! My reactions to the delicious drinks are authentic, and my reaction to the over-the-top-mess of a vodka martini I made was also (painfully) real.
